Jujube
is a fruit that is especially praised in Asia. They are generally
about 1 ½” and pear shaped, looking similar to an apple.
Jujubes vary in color, size and shape. They range from a yellowish-green
to a Kelly green, either the shape of an egg or round and some
are as small as an olive or the size of a date. Their skin is rather
firm while the interior is filled with inedible pointed seeds, |
a
pit and a pulp which is very acidic and pithy. Jujubes offer a very
unique flavor, not comparable to other fruits. This unique fruit
is delicious candied or stewed in sugar or honey syrup. Also, eat
Jujubes fresh or in a sautéed vegetable medley for unique
flavoring. |
